33rd Annual Irish Fest
a Success for North Platte Catholic Schools

NORTH PLATTE – Hundreds of local families gathered at St. Patrick’s High School Sunday, February 24th, to raise thousands of dollars for the North Platte Catholic Schools.  The 33rd Annual Irish Fest celebration raised over $15,000 to go toward the operating expenses of McDaid and St. Patrick’s schools.  Attendees enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner, placed bids on silent auction items, purchased sweet treats at a bake sale, and tried their luck in a raffle.  The main attraction at the traditional event was a gym full of carnival style games, complete with a prize booth, and three super-sized “Fun Jumpz” inflatable games.

Several local residents went home with some fantastic raffle prizes.  Andrew O’Neill ( North Platte) won $1,000 Cash.  Kellie Vap (North Platte ) won a 42” Plasma Screen HDTV.  Tom Ottis (North Platte) was the winner of a La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner from Erickson’s Furniture, and Ronna Klasna (North Platte) won a Weber Charcoal Grill from ACE Hardware.  Dr. James Smith (North Platte), Jacque Allison (North Platte), Josh Crisman (North Platte), Troy Pedersen (Maxwell), and Paula Egnoske (Grand Island) were all winners of $100 cash prizes.

This was the 33rd year for the event that began as “Mardi Gras” in 1975.  Since its inception, Irish Fest has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for North Platte ’s Catholic Schools.
