Annual Irish Fest
a
Success for North Platte Catholic Schools

NORTH PLATTE
– Hundreds of local families gathered at St. Patrick’s High School
Sunday, February 24th, to raise thousands of dollars for the
North Platte Catholic Schools. The
33rd Annual Irish Fest
celebration raised over $15,000 to go toward the operating expenses of
McDaid and
St.
Patrick’s schools. Attendees
enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner, placed bids on silent auction
items, purchased sweet
treats at a bake sale, and tried their luck in a raffle.
The main attraction at the traditional event was a gym full of
carnival style games, complete with a prize booth, and three super-sized
“Fun Jumpz” inflatable games.
Several
local residents went home with some fantastic raffle prizes.
Andrew O’Neill (
North Platte) won $1,000 Cash. Kellie
Vap (North Platte
) won a 42” Plasma Screen HDTV. Tom
Ottis (North Platte) was the winner of a La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner from
Erickson’s Furniture, and Ronna Klasna (North Platte) won a Weber Charcoal Grill from
ACE Hardware.
Dr. James Smith (North Platte), Jacque Allison (North Platte), Josh Crisman (North Platte), Troy Pedersen (Maxwell), and Paula Egnoske (Grand Island) were all winners of $100 cash prizes.
This was the 33rd year for the event
that began as “Mardi Gras” in 1975.
Since its inception, Irish
Fest has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for
North Platte
’s Catholic Schools.
